Most of us have that one part of our body that, however much we diet and exercise simply never looks quite the way we would like, and for a lot of ladies -and men too – that annoying problem area is the belly. The quest for a flatter tummy is one that preoccupies a lot of people’s time both in and out of the gym!
A big mistake most people make is to think that there is a special way to eat and diet to get a flatter tummy. The bad news is that there is not at all really, you simply cannot ‘target’ a certain area when it comes to weight loss, whatever some people might tell you. Exercise of course helps a great deal, but even then many still have issues with the way their tummy looks. For many it is only when they begin a course of electro therapy by making use of a slimming machine that they really begin to get the results they want as that is an effective way to target specific areas of the body for what you might call ‘spot reduction’ .
But back to food. There are actually certain foods that can make your stomach more bloated, both in the way it looks and in the way it feels, spoiling all that of that effort you have been putting into electro therapy, working out and eating better. Here are some of the worst culprits and as you’ll see, some of them may surprise you!
Extra Gassy Vegetables – Vegetables are amazing for your health right? Well yes indeed they are, but the difficulty is that there are certain vegetables are particularly “gassy” and can puff up your tummy in a quite significant way, no matter how ‘flat’ it usually is. Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage and onions are all flat tummy busters. This is not to say you should give them up as they have a lot to offer in terms of nutrition, simply limit portion sizes when you do eat them and mix in ‘non gassy’ veggies like peas and carrots as well.
Deep Fried Foods – Deep fried foods – or even fried food in general – really isn’t good for you in general, but they are especially bad for those on a quest for a flatter stomach, even those making use of slimming machines. This is because they are hard to digest compared to foods cooked in another manner and often lead to a bloated tummy look – and a bloated, even slightly nauseous feeling – that is far from nice.
Artificial Sweetener – Swapping sugar for a no calorie sugar substitute in your tea or coffee cuts calories but it can also spoil your flat belly efforts. To minimize that effect try out a Stevia product instead. Stevia is an herb from South America is all natural and won’t cause bloating.
Fizzy Drinks – You have probably heard about the danger of too many beers leading to a beer belly but there is actually such a thing as a soda belly too! All those bubbles, as you might imagine, are filled with gas and they will bloat your tummy very quickly! If you want a change from water stick to still drinks which don’t contain all of that gas.
Gum – Even good old, harmless old chewing gum can be a problem for those in pursuit of the perfect six pack (or a near perfect one anyway.) That is because chewing gum traps unwanted air in the gastrointestinal tract and can lead to a bloated looking, puffy tummy too.
